Charity Fraud Awareness Week

This week marks #CharityFraudAwarenessWeek and we want to encourage charities to be more fraud-aware. With a total annual income of over £70 billion, the UK charity sector is vulnerable to fraud and financial crime. Therefore, it is essential that the right counter-fraud measures are put in place. Here are some actions your charity can take –

  • Create a culture of ethical behavior throughout the charity
  • Develop an anti-fraud policy
  • Regularly asses the risk that your charity may be vulnerable to
  • Implement robust financial controls
  • Ensure there are strong recruitment procedures
  • Encourage awareness throughout the charity
  • Keep records of suspected and confirmed fraud
