Did you know Thomson Cooper offers internships?

Apr 13, 2017 | TC blog

Paul has been working in our Edinburgh office for almost nine months. We asked him what are the three key lessons he will take away from his time working at Thomson Cooper.

  1. Use my initiative. Although this is my first time working in an accountancy practice, I was immediately involved in preparing VAT returns and bookkeeping. I did receive training and support, but was quickly encouraged to take on responsibility for my own work and use my initiative.
  2. Managing my time. I quickly realised how valuable your time is on the job, especially when your time is charged to clients. This has encouraged me to set targets and learn to work productively and efficiently to get the job done on time.
  3. Always ask! If I’m ever unsure about what to do with any job, I’ve learned that it’s always best to ask. This has been made very easy as I’ve found that all the staff across the firm are friendly and very approachable.

We are always keen to hear from people who are interested in a career in accountancy and want to build up some real-world experience. Internships can be based in our offices in Dunfermline or Edinburgh.

Visit our vacancies page and apply via the “Speculative Enquiries” option.
