Marketing in the Real World

Jun 14, 2019 | TC blog

I am glad to say that I have successfully survived my first week as Marketing Intern here at Thomson Cooper and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I have received a very warm welcome from all members of staff which has helped me settle in quickly and feel like part of the team.

As a marketing student, having just completed my second year at the University of Edinburgh, I have found it extremely interesting to be able to put the knowledge and skills that I have learned over the past few years into practice in a fast-paced working environment.

Experiencing marketing from a service point of view is something that has been particularly interesting, as my course has only touched on this so far. I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work for such a successful and highly respected firm, working on current projects and being able to utilise my contemporary knowledge in the industry.

What I have learned from my first week is how quickly you must adapt to the ever evolving external and internal factors that impact the work carried out, and that however organised you may be, the to-do list is constantly growing!

I can undoubtedly say that I am looking forward to the next 6 weeks as I continue to learn new skills as well as strengthening my existing knowledge, and hope that I can positively contribute to the work of the firm.
