We are delighted to be sponsoring our employee Jayne Emery as she pursues her Team GB Triathlon dream.
Trainee accountant Jayne has always been sporty, adding “Growing up with three brothers, it was a case of keep up or get left out.” After achieving a degree in Business through The Open University (so she could work as a groom for a professional event rider), Jayne overcame her dislike of water and started training for Triathlon with the help of the Stirling Tri Club.
In 2019, Jayne made her first attempt to qualify in her GB Age Group Team. She succeeded by finishing fourth in the Scottish qualifier, as Jayne puts it “by the skin of my teeth!” and secured her place in the European Championships. She also qualified for the World Duathlon Championships before the pandemic put a halt to competing.
Jayne is competing in her first World Duathlon Championships being held in Romania this month where she will face a 5km run, a 20km cycle then another 2.5km run. Jayne added, “I am very lucky to have received sponsorship this year, I simply couldn’t have done this without it. I’m very much an underdog but I hope that my story will encourage more people into sport. Life is too short to sit on the sofa!” Further events in Germany and England will follow over the summer months.
