DON’T FALL FOR A SCAM CALL

Nuisance calls from people claiming all sorts can be alarming, especially when the caller becomes rude and aggressive in an attempt to gain information.

Over the last few months there has been a trend in scam callers becoming more aggressive over the telephone, whether it be from the well-known Microsoft scam callers to Pension scams.

Where businesses are concerned, the key aim of the caller is to intimidate the person answering the phone into putting them through to the MD, CEO, Managing Partner or other with significant control in the business.

In one incident, a well-known household brand based in Scotland was scammed into transferring £18m to a foreign bank account.

The best way to defeat these is to be aware of the current scams, and just as importantly make staff aware, as they may be the one receiving the call.
